I gotta have tartar sauce with my baked fish. I’m not a Spartan, I’m a New Englander, and there is a limit to the things I’m willing to give up when it comes to fish. Unfortunately, I don’t eat dairy anymore and almost everything else in store bought tartar is just plain bad for you, so I’ve come up with a substitute. There are two ways to do this. One is to mix, in your blender, an avocado with pickles, and a couple of leaves of cabbage, red bell pepper, turmeric, and salt and there you go. Or for a simple solution, mix half an avocado with a chopped pickle to eat with a midsized (90 calories) piece of fish.
