Diabetes Drug Linked With Increased Lifespan for Male Mice

Metformin, a drug commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes, may be linked with longer lifespan in middle-aged men, according to a recent study from researchers at the National Institute of Aging (NIA).

Researchers administered a small dosage of the drug to mice. They found that male mice who took a 0.1 percent dose of the drug regularly enjoyed a 5.83 percent increased lifespan as compared with a control group who did not take the drug.
